Surfladle first to purchase a spanking new Amex carbon boom :) for a measly £260 :( then on to widewater. Was solid 4.7 weather when I arrived 3pm so had the choice between slightly underpowered 4.5 or overpowered 5.2. I really couldn't be arsed with an overpowered struggle session so up went the 4.5.

Wrong choice :(
Was perfect for the first couple of runs but very soon the gusty wind dropped off a fraction. There was always just enough to make me think can I be bothered to change up, but I spent more time underpowered just planing trying to stay upwind than well powered going for moves. Swapped to the bigger board later on but that didn't make much difference. But then Gareth very kindly lent me his 5.2 and I had a very nice perfectly powered 15 minute blast on that...

If I'd rigged the 5.2 at the start I would have been fine for the whole session. Ho hum, sh*t happens. This wasn't the first time 4.7-5.0 weather has left me having to rig the wrong sail and I've realised a 5.0 would fit my quiver much better than a 5.2. So will be buying a 2007 Rock 5.0 as soon as they become available.
